We met while traveling from Chicago to Seattle on Christmas Day, 2013. She traded seats with a man so he could sit with his family. I was reading about contemplative prayer and she was re-reading “Tuesdays with Morrie”. Our conversation quickly entered the twilight zone as we found many similarities in our lives. Our initials were PJ, we were born in the same month and year, both had a child in the same month and year, our parent’s names were John and Shirley, both had brothers named Dan, lived in towns named Rockford, and on streets named Carey. These were not the only coincidences; we both loved to travel, among other things.
A few weeks later, we were in Kauai together and a romance blossomed. Later, I flew to visit her in Michigan and she reciprocated by visiting me in Washington State. Soon, we were dreaming of living on the road for extended periods. I bought a one ton Dodge Ram, she bought an older model travel trailer which we renovated to suit our needs.
In this blog, we will describe the day to day experiences of life on the road from the mundane to the sublime. Hopefully, it will encourage you to lose the routine and to choose the wonders of whimsy and adventure. It is exciting!
